A good reason to secure objects in
your vehicle
This reminded me of the importance of securing objects in
your vehicle. Last month in surrey British Columbia, a 25 year old woman
died because of a motor vehicle collision. She didn’t die from injuries from
the collision but, from injuries caused by her laptop computer that was
sitting unsecured on the back seat. In the collision, the laptop flew up and
hit her in the head. There was enough force from the laptop striking her
head that it bent the frame of the computer. She died from blunt trauma to
the head.
This reminded me of a picture I saw when I was a rookie paramedic 25 years
ago. A man was driving his station wagon. In the back was a 4 foot long
crowbar. He lost control and hit a tree at about 30 mph. The crowbar came
flying up and went through his head. Unbelievably, this man survived.
In another case, a man had his briefcase on the back seat when he was
involved in a collision. The brief case flew up hitting him in the neck. He
ended up paralyzed from the neck down.
Here’s the point. If there is an unsecured object in the car and you are
involved in a collision, those objects will become missiles within your
vehicle. They will be flying at approximately the same speed you were
travelling at. This also includes unsecured passengers. They will also fly
about your vehicle with tremendous force.
Consider placing briefcases, laptops etc in the trunk. If you have an SUV
install a safety netting that will help prevent objects stored in the back
from flying up to the passengers in front.

Was it attempted suicide or stupidity?
This is a dumb thing to do but a woman thought the polar bears at the zoo
were so cute she jumped into the pit to give one a hug. One of the bears
started to bite he. Bears will do this from time to time. They had a heck of
a time pulling her back to safety. On the news you saw the bear chopping
down on her before they were able to pull her to safety. Sometimes, people
just ask for trouble.
While watching her trying to get out of the bear pit after she was bitten my
bet is that it was stupidity and not a suicide attempt.
Norwegian pair nabbed during high speed sex
In Oslo, Norway police noticed a car speeding. It was not only the speeding
133 km per hour in a 100 Km zone that got their attention but the car was
been driven in an erratic manner. When they pulled the car over , it was
obvious why they vehicle had been swerving side to side. The driver was
having sex with his girlfriend.
